SKOLA CELTA - SYLLABUS

Practise teaching in classes at 2 different ability levels for a total of 6 hours.
Observe experienced teachers teaching classes for a total of 6 hours.
Maintain and submit a portfolio of all coursework including all written assignments and materials related to teaching practice.

Develop an awareness of language and a knowledge of the description of English and apply these in their professional practice.
Develop an initial understanding of the contexts within which adults learn English, their motivation and the roles of the techer and the learner.
Develop familiarity with the principles and practice of effective teaching to adult learners of English.
Develop basic skills for teaching adults in the language classroom.
Develop a familiarity with appropriate resources and materials for use with adult learners of English for teaching, testing and reference.

You will teach a total of 6 hours at two distinctive ability levels.
There are 9 teaching slots in total (20 minutes, 40 minutes and 60 minute lessons).
Each of the lessons will be observed by one of the approved tutors and constructive feedback will be given to you both orally and in writing.
Fellow trainees will be observing and particpating in feedback sessions.

Assessment for teaching practice is based on your overall performance at the end of the 6 hours.

There are 2 components of assessment: teaching practice and written assignments. To get the CELTA certificate, you must pass both assessements.
You will be assessed throughout the course.
There is no final examination.
An external assessor appointed by Cambridge English Language assessment, moderates each course.
